Nothing is better for your gut, than a cup of warm, rich broth - made from simmering bones for a long time. The cooking process extracts all of the minerals and other amino acids for easy absorption in your gut.
Bone broth is good for:
- Gut healing
- Nourshment when unwell
- Joint care
- Post surgery or injury for healing
If using beef bones, roast in a hot oven for 15 mins to bring out the flavour
NOTE: You can use frozen bones to save time
Place all ingredients in the pot
Fill with enough water to cover the bones
Slow cook on high - 12hrs for chicken, 12-24hrs for beef
Bring to the boil, and then reduce the heat to simmer
6hrs for chicken, and 12hrs for beef
Strain out the solids, and let it cool
Store in a glass jar or bottle for up to 1 week - or freeze in smaller portions for up to 3 months
Serve hot, with a squeeze of lemon, some salt, cracked pepper, and fresh herbs such as parsely, thyme or coriander.
Use as a base for soups, casseroles, risotto, cooking rice or quinoa.
